SURGERY...

100_1618

This handsome young man was scheduled for surgery this morning to repair bilateral congenital hernias.  Unfortunately it was cancelled.  We have an awful bug going through our house right now and he (along with 3 others, including me) decided to let it shack up for awhile.  Not a smart thing to do I know, but we were feeling generous I guess.  His older brother is scheduled for the same surgery next Friday.  We're hoping he is healthy by then!!  Here is another picture of Brother J eating his mexican banana!!  Check out the smirk!  Talk to ya soon...

EASTER...

Hey there!  How was your Easter?  Ours was WONDERFUL!  The Easter Bunny came for Sister K and Sister E early (Saturday) because they were going back to their dads for the holiday.  He came for the rest of the kids on Easter.  Easter morning the twins got up and found their Easter baskets and some large hidden eggs with cars in them!!  They had lots of fun.  Then we all headed off for mass.  We got there earlier than normal because #1 all those catholics that never go to mass go on Easter Sunday and #2 we attend a college parish and it is very popular.  Mass was at 10:00 and we pulled into our parking spot at 9:33.  We had a little bit of a walk to the church, but not that long.  When we arrived inside it was already standing room only.  By the time mass started you couldn't even walk through the foyer!  People were everywhere!!  Geesh!!  After mass we picked up the big kids and headed up north to my in-laws.  We had a fantastic dinner and the kids had fun on their egg hunt!  Aunt K hid 80 eggs!!  We watched a little basketball and visited and then headed back home!!  Hope you had a nice Easter!  Talkto ya soon...

Moms!!...

Well, getting to this post took a little longer than anticipated!  Forgot I was gonna have to reload the software for my pictures.  So now that that is done we can begin!  Back in February sister E celebrated her 9th birthday!  Can you believe it?  Me neither!  Sister E is one who REALLY likes presents.  So of course being the mom that I am I thought I would pull a funny with her present.  I took the present out of it's original box and wrote "happy birthday" on the styrofoam that came with the gift.  I put the styrofoam back in the box and wrapped it up for her (without her actual gift in it).  After blowing out the candles we gave her gift to her.  At first she chuckled, then she didn't think it was so funny and put her head down and became teary eyed.  Oops!!  It was supposed to be funny, it surely wasn't supposed to make her cry!  I guess we need to work on the being grateful part, along with mom needing to work being careful with her sense of humor!  We gave her the actual gift and she was quite pleased with it (it was something she had picked out).  Her smile returned to her face.  After all this I overheard her telling her friends about what I did and she was laughing the entire time!!  So maybe it wasn't so bad afterall!!  Here are a few pictures of our birthday celebration with sister E.  Talk to ya soon...

"Mama"...

I tried to say this once before but it didn't come out this good.  This is exactly what I meant to say:

OK, we're back!!...

As you are aware we were gone for awhile!!  That would be because of two things: busy and computer crash!!  These darn computers!  Thanks to my genius brother, we are up and running again!  I have lots of things to share with you!  Everything from parent-teacher conferences, birthdays, Nature Center adventures and science adventures!!  Life has been good around here.  Busy but good.  I'll start with sharing my experiences at the last 3 parent-teacher conferences (sorry, no pictures for this one!).  Bubby had his conference awhile back.  His grades were great, a D and the rest A's.  The D was in a class entitled 'Art in Writing' (the teacher created this class).  He is not quite sure what it's all about.  All of his instructers love him (of course), they had nothing but praise for him.  A couple of the teachers expressed some interesting thoughts to me (wrong person to do this kind of expressing with, trust me!)  In his Art of Writing class the teacher discussed how they don't hand out homework to the students.  They are in school for 6 or more hours, plenty of time to work on school!  Perfect statement to a homeschooling MUM of many who believes that the afternoon and evenings should be spent doing family activities, not extending an already long day of school to work on more school that should have been done at school!  His Biology teacher vented about how the educational system does not teach these students to critically think!  She stated they are taught all through their school years to look for the bolded words, not read in between the lines and actually learn something!  I can't tell you how much I was digging on this (okay do they still use the word "digging" like that or am I showing my age?).  Last night was sister K and sister E's conferences.  Again, the teachers had nothing but wonderful things to say about both of them.  For a LONG time I have been discussing with their dad my desires to bring them home to school.  He of course is not going to go for it.    I have expressed concerns about them going into the middle school.  He says it's fine, he's not pulling them.  So, last night at parent-teacher conferences, sister K's teacher says her only concern is Sister K's tender heartedness and entering the middle school!  She said to us and sister K that the elementary school is really a special place and the middle school is tough.  It is so different.  Kids there are so cruel and don't behave anything like they do at the elementary...she said we are babied at the elementary school.  Okay, now the teacher is expressing concerns!!  Do you think he'll listen?  Probably not, we'll see.  Well this was longer than I thought it was going to be so I'll go and get back to work now.  Next to come, a birthday with a cruel twist from mom...

Talk to ya soon!!
